This is my blog where I write about music, and myself. Vaudeville, burlesque, blues, jazz, novelties, and whatever else I feel like posting. Mostly from my own LPs and 78s. Comments and feedback always appreciated. Please do not link directly to mp3s. It's rude.

In Dreams, by Roy Orbison.

C Am

A candy colored clown they call the sandman

Dm G13

Tiptoes to my room everynight

C Am

Just to sprinkle stardust and to whisper

F G7 C

Go to sleep, everything is all right

C

I close my eyes

Dm

Then I drift away

G7

Into the magic night

C

I softly say

C

A silent prayer

Dm

Like dreamers do

G7

Then I fall asleep to dream

C

My dreams of you

C G7

In dreams I walk with you

F G7 C

In dreams I talk to you

(C)

In dreams you're mine

D7

All of the time, we're

C Dm G C Dm G7

Together in dreams, in dreams

C Fm C

But just before the dawn

C Fm C

I awake and find you're gone

C Dm

I can't help it I can't help it if I cry

G7 C

I remember that you said goodbye

C F G7

It's too bad that all these things

C F G7

Can only happen in my dreams

C D7

Only in dreams

Dm7 G7 C

In beautiful dreams

"In Dreams" has no verses or chorus. This song is kind of hard to sing. I don't have a particularly good range, and this song slowly ascends from its lowest notes in the beginning, to the highest note, which is in the word "only," I believe.
I am really fascinated by the phrase "Candy Colored Clown." Such nice alliteration, but what does it mean, really?
I like to sing "Blue Velvet."
Candy Colored Clown.
I hate you clown.
